This block of 15 floors was stripped back to the structure and reclad with completely new internal fit-out including all mechanical and electrical services. Delap & Waller developed the design of services to achieve BREEAM ‘Very Good’ accreditation.
Teaching areas are ventilated by a Variable Air Volume (VAV) fresh air system, with heating and cooling by fan coil units and Academic Offices in the north elevation are heated by radiators with local control.
The building was extended at ground level to create a Social Hub for students which has underfloor heating and heat recovery ventilation.
The sustainability of the building is improved by photovoltaic panels and lighting is by LED fittings throughout with daylight dimming and presence detection in appropriate areas.
The structured cabling system is integrated into a campus-wide Local Area network allowing central monitoring of life safety and security systems.
A comprehensive Building Management System provides overall control and monitoring of the services.
