The redevelopment work at Ravenhill (renamed the Kingspan Stadium) delivered three new stands and increased the capacity of the stadium from 11,400 to 18,000. Stands include the:
- New Memorial Stand (2400 seating and 1350 terracing capacity) includeing a ticket office, shop, bar/catering and educational facilities.
- New Aquinas stand – new family area (2100 seating and 1300 terracing capcity) including changing facilities, treatment rooms, state-of-the art gym, meeting rooms and media facilities.
- The existing stand was demolished and replaced with a new grandstand with 3,450 seating capacity including bar and restaurant facilities.
Delap & Waller were responsible for the design and supervision of the full mechanical and electrical services, including heating, ventilation, lighting, plumbing, fire alarm and public address systems. There was considerable time constraints and work was carried out with the site remaining fully functional throughout the duration of the project. New renewable energy technologies integrated into the stadium included a rainwater harvesting system with a capacity of 50,000 litres of water to feed the pitch irrigation system, while other energy-saving systems consisted of heat recovery, ventilation and LED lighting systems with PIR controls to maximise the energy efficiency of the building also included.
