New EMEA Headquarters Building
A new 4,500m2 EMEA Headquarters building for Adobe’s field operations, to co-locate over 250 staff and as a new Customer Experience Centre (CEC) to showcase Adobe products and systems. The CEC space is designed to provide an interactive and immersive digital experience.
The client envisaged the new headquarters building as a collaborative, modern space that allows flexibility in work style and environment. To meet these goals the client brief required the Buildings engineering services to reflect a dynamic office population, to be a low energy, low carbon design and to provide high levels of thermal and acoustic comfort.
In keeping with Adobes Corporate Social Responsibility for Environmental Sustainability an early aspiration of the client was to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Platinum award. Key criteria identified to achieve this, was to select a building that could already demonstrate environmental credentials and to undertake an early LEED pre-assessment of the building. The Maidenhead building had achieved a BREEAM Very Good rating and the LEED assessment suggested the Platinum rating although very challenging achievable.
Adobe is the first business to achieve four platinum certifications and this is the first building outside of the USA to achieve this prestigious accolade. It joins just two other buildings in the UK certified under the LEED Commercial Interiors rating. This is a landmark building for Adobe which demonstrates their on-going commitment to developing low energy, low carbon sustainable buildings not only in the US but around the world. It can serve as a best practice exemplar for engineers and other construction professionals.
